LSA Annual Conference 2019
news / September 13, 2018
We are pleased to announce the 2019 conference will be hosted by Abertay University.
Changing Lives through Leisure
The diverse nature of leisure has the potential to change lives. This conference focuses on how leisure changes lives through research, education and practice.
Changing policy: Here we invite papers that explore leisure policy as the source of changing individuals’ lives and communities.
Changing communities: Within this stream, we invite abstracts that address the ways in which leisure (re)constructs or transforms communities.
Changing identities: We invite abstracts that critically consider leisure in the performance of individual and cultural identities.
Changing lives: We invite papers that consider how leisure improves quality of life for various populations and thus benefits society.
Open stream: In addition to the four streams, we invite submissions in any other area of leisure research, teaching and practice.
Call for Abstracts
We are inviting abstracts for parallel sessions that are taking place throughout the conference. Each speaker will be asked to provide a 20-minute presentation based on one of the conference subthemes. Up to 10 minutes will be allocated for questions following each presentation.
Please submit a 300-word abstract to LSA2019@abertay.ac.uk.
The deadline for abstracts is Friday 1st March 2019.
If you are a day delegate, please indicate which day(s) you cannot attend at the end of your abstract.
We will respond to your application by 31st March 2019.
The LSA Bursary Award Scheme has been implemented to enable undergraduate and graduate student participation at the LSA’s annual conference. The scheme awards £100 each to a pre-designated number of students who have submitted an abstract through the regular procedure and have been accepted onto the annual summer conference programme.
To apply, send an overview of the paper (possibly the accepted abstract), details on how attendance at the conference will benefit you and your studies, and an indication of what the bursary funds would be spent on. Please limit to one page max. All applications should be sent to LSA Chair, Dr Thomas Fletcher firstname.lastname@example.org by June 1, 2019.
